Down to the Core

Dinner outings are fun, but can be quite dangerous to the body. Going out for a nice dinner last night with my boyfriend in NYC left me WAY too full, with WAY too many ingested calories. Appetizers, french onion soup, couldnt even touch the salad, and he surprised me with a bday cheescake! Delicious, but WAYY too fattening.

What is a girl to do after such a wonderful meal?? Get that body off the couch and get into workout mode. This is exactly what I did this morning as I jumped into my yoga pants, sports bra, t-shirt, and sneakers and I was out the door.

First, I began with CARDIO.

It was a beautiful day to take a jog outside, so I pumped up the jams on my ipod shuffle and started off in a walk. Walk for 5 – 10 minutes, then gradually begin a fast pace, then eventually lead into a swift jog for about 10-20 minutes, and end off with walking for another 5 minutes. It is VERY important to not start off running- you have to pace your heart, otherwise it will not be happy with you and you wont be happy with yourself.

Next exercise was ABDOMEN.

I’ll walk you through this one.

  • Lay on your back, with legs straight out
  • Lift your legs so that feet are aligned with hips
  • Stretch arms infront of you and slowly raise your body so arms touch toes
  • Now go back to start and repeat
  • Do 3 sets of 10-15 reps

NOTE: Make sure to keep head, neck, and back straight with each movement

This was my routine for the day. Short and two areas, but I like to take it slow.
